Holiday Markets Winter 2016!

It's already almost time for the Winter Holidays! Where did the time go? If you're keen on checking out some of our goods in person and perhaps even have your eye on that special something for that special someone... come visit our booth and say hi! I will be there in person and am always looking forward to meeting and chatting with YOU the awesome folks who help me make it possible to do what I love. Our Craft Fair Schedule for this Holiday Season!

It's already that time of year again! Come get your holiday shopping done at all your local Craft Fairs and shops this year to support your small businesses and crafters and creative folks in your community while coming home with some seriously awesome loot! I will personally be holding down the table at all of the following craft fairs so mark your calendars and come by and say hello at one, two or all three of these great markets. See you there!

First up is the 5th Annual Strathcona Winter Craft Fair on Sat. Nov 28th 2015, from 10am-4pm. Always super cute with live music, great gym-holiday vibes and a personal fav of mine because Strathcona is my hood!:)

Next up is TOQUE, the Western Front's annual fundraiser & Craft Fair. Dec 4th-6th. For more info please see image below. This one has the fun first-evening-only opening from 6pm-10pm where you can roam the halls of the Western Front with a fancy cocktail in hand for a prime shopping experience.

And last but definitely not least is Got Craft!? Dec 12th & 13th. This time this always hustlin' and bustlin' market will take place in a new venue in NORTH VAN! This is our last market of 2015 so if you don't have your shopping done by then please Check out their site here for directions on how to get there by car or public transit. Might be a great excuse for a little North Van winter hike, no?

Free Christmas Tree Ornaments for YOU!

So this Holiday I thought I'd make a little free print out of some Christmas tree decorations for you. Just print them out, colour them in, cut them out, put a little thread through the top of each one and go to town on your tree. Of course now that you're started why not make a whole bunch more of your own ornaments from scratch? Give it a try! You'll have so much fun!

When I was a kid one of my favorite Christmas activities was decorating the tree. My mom and I always did it together but she pretty much let me have creative control which I totally loved. All of those precious little ornaments, each one so different and special and all of them so beautiful together in the perfect arrangement. Now as an art teacher I look back at this love of decorating the tree and think about how much it relates to what I do today. Decorating a tree is all about adding details and placing them in a pleasing composition. Just like illustration and design.

Get ready for the Holidays!

Lately every year the holidays do this thing where they manage to sneak up on me even though I definitely know they're coming! I think it's because shops start to decorate for Christmas earlier and earlier now and and so for a month or two we are in this constant state of Christmas, almost forgetting that there is an actual date attached to the whole thing. By the time I realize that it's often too late and my cards end up getting there a week after everything is long over. This year, I have decided to be better about it. I will try to write all of my cards in these next couple of weeks so that later, all I will need to do is to throw them in the mail. If you want to be clever like me might I suggest one of our festive card sets to get you in the writing mood?
